Introduction

Manners and Etiquette are very important in our daily lives. Even in online games like Fiesta, they are still of importance.

What is Manners and Etiquette?

Direct from the dictionary:
The socially correct way of acting; etiquette.

In simpler terms, manners and etiquette are a morally correct way of life.

Why are manners important in Fiesta?

Without manners, other players will think poorly of you or your upbringing. Also, some players have execellent memories as well as friends whom they communicate with, which means that once many people have been disgusted by your improper actions, you may never be able to find a party or a guild ever again, and will be remembered for your actions.

How then should I behave?

Generally, you should obey all the Terms of Service (ToS) of your respective game provider. However, there are some more specific ways.

When requesting for help

The first and most important thing to do is to turn of your 'caps lock' button. It is usually located to the left of your 'A' button on the keyboard. If it is on, please apply pressure on it once to turn it off. Most keyboards have a light to indicate if the caps lock is on or off, if not, check your screen.

When requesting for help or buffs, use 'please' (short form of is pls) and not 'PLZZZZZZZZ' or 'PLEEEEEEZE'. Also, please understand that not all clerics can buff your max hp (also known as casting endure) or revive you, and that revive takes 5 seconds to be completed. Also, protect and resist cannot affect those outside the cleric's party. Another thing to note is that not all players are clerics. There are four different classes in Fiesta, and non-clerics cannot heal you, no matter how much you beg, whine, or demand.

If the person cannot help you, then leave him or her alone. Do not spam the player with trade requests, party invites, or whispers. Also, spamming begging for money is strongly discouraged.

If the person decides to help you, thank him or her. A simple way of thanking them would be to say "Thank you", "ty", "Thanks", or "thx". This can also be said after a trade.

Please understand that not everyone understands shortforms, so you may have to type in full. Only use short forms if you personally know the other person, like if he is your friend.

Also, some players may be afk, or Away From Keyboard. That means that no matter how often you flood their pms, they will not respond, but when they return they may experience difficulty in reading their friend's pms. This will probably cause them to dislike you.

Some examples of what is right and wrong:

Right
Example 1.
Some Random Player: "Hello, can you please cast endure on me?"
Some Random Player gets buffed
Some Random Player: "Thank you"

Example 2. Some Random Player: "can u pls buff me?"

Some Random Player: "ty"

Wrong
Example 1.
Some Random Idiot: "buff me max Hp"
Some Random Idiot: "buff me max HP"
Some Random Idiot: "help me"

Example 2.
Some Random Idiot: "heAL"
Some Random Idiot: "HELP PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ"

Party Etiquette

Common courtesy is essential in a party. Those that are rude have no place and their time would be better spent soloing. A few items to note are included in this article.

While in a party, it is good practice to give priority to killing the mobs that people need for quests. If more than one person has the same quest, even more priority should be given on this. Those with a higher level should generally help those in a party at a lower level. Once the quest is complete, the party should be thankful enough to help you with your quest.

Under normal circumstances, The drop system should be set to "sequential allocation" to allow all members of the party to receive drops. As quest items are only able to be picked up by those that are doing the quest, this is not an issue. However, if, for example, a party member has a quest to get 10 Tough Meat, these should be traded to allow him/her to complete the quest. In addition, occasionally mobs will drop "greens" (armour / weapons that have better stats than the ones you can buy from the NPC). It is polite to trade these with a member of your party that is the same class - i.e. if you get a hammer, and there is a cleric in your party, you should give the hammer to the cleric. If there is no-one in your party who can make use of it, you may keep it.

If you intend to go AFK (Away From Keyboard), please let your party know so that they don't think you have deserted them, and can protect you. If you are going AFK for longer than about 5mins, it may be more considerate for everyone if you leave the party and return to a place of safety.

If a member of your party deliberately kill steals off someone else, you should first inform them that what they are doing is wrong. If they continue, you should warn them that there is no place in a party for a kill stealer as it gives everyone in the party a bad name. If they still continue, they should be kicked from the party. The same applies for spamming the chat box - clerics do not appreciate being spammed with "buff me" or "rez me". You will get better results by saying "Can you buff me please?" or "Can I have a revive please?" no more than once every 30 seconds. If the cleric is not worth the extra letters, why are you worth the buff?

Finally, avoid creating a train of mobs with your party. When the mobs get bored they go back to their starting place and attack anyone in their path there. You should kill any train as soon as it appears. If you cannot deal with it, you probably should not be proceeding further down the map.

During Kingdom Quests

  • Do not go AFK
  • As far as possible, do not be rude to your party members
  • Do not do stupid things which will result in the failure of the KQ or which waste people's time.

-This includes but is not limited to luring multiple bosses in Mara Pirate's Rage or deliberately refusing to open the gate in Gold Hill Adventure

When editing FiestaWiki

Do not vandalise the wiki. Not only is it immature and disrespectful, vandalism can be easily reversed much faster then it can be done. Also, please quote your sources. Do not copy another person's work and attempt to pass it off as your own.

What not to do?

There are also some things that should never be done. Below are some examples.

Kill stealing

Kill stealing, or killing a monster that another player is obviously trying to kill, is irritating. Also, most service providers say it is illegal. When fighting, always only attack a monster which no one is attacking, unless you are in Kingdom Quest, or the attacker is your party member. If you cannot kill the monster on your own, either try killing lower leveled monsters, or try to kill that monster in a group with your friends. If you dont have any friends, you should know why...

Extortion

Extortion, or threatening another user with harm in an attempt to get items from them, for instance by stealing their kills, is illegal as it can be classified under harrasment. Furthermore, it will hardly ever work, and will backfire often. If you need items, hunt for them yourself, or set up a vendor. If you need money, read the money making guides in this wiki.

Spamming

Spam is defined as Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages, or messages which are useless. While it is understandable that you may want to get shouting titles(is it legal though to shout spam for it[etc, 1,2,3...]), there are instances where spamming should never be done, such as spamming a person with repeated trade requests, friend requests, or party requests. If they reject you the first time, they definately will not accept the request a few seconds after they just rejected you.

Common Invalid Excuses for Misconduct

  • You're just unlucky I had a bad day and was pissed by (insert name(s))

Do you really think this excuse will cause people to support you? More likely, they will turn against you for harrassing them. If you are unhappy with a particular person(s), take it out on that person(s), not on random people or groups of people.

  • My friends are drunk

So? How did they get to the computer? Don't guide them there, let them rest for the sake of their health.

If you are underage, don't drink.
If you are of age, know your tolerance and do not consume more then you can handle.
