Has anyone tried starting a new char and then *attempting* enchantment and writing down the pattern of where the star lands from the beginning, then repeating with another char? Could it be that there *is* a pattern but that it starts when you first start enchanting? Maybe the pattern is just sooo long that by the time everyone here is trying everyone else's patterns they are just lost in where they should be in said pattern. *did that make sense?* If that were the case then you should be able to write it down from the get go, 9 times (not to expensive if you do stone production and are buying lvl1 weaps). And if it worked then you should be able to get it right with a lvl1 char and just create a new char every time you wanted a new enchanted char. I'm sure no one has tried that ... right ... yeah right. I'll be selling lix apoline right in front of the Roumen Smitty. hehhe
That was a Serious thought though.
But without my trying *Yet*, I do think its Purely Random and it's the closest thing Outspark could have created to mimic Crack. There are stone dealers on every corner and How many times do you hear "Help!!! I have destroyed my weapon and can't afford a new one!!!!" or "Can I have some money to buy a new Weapon!!!111 mine ran out of gas a mile down the road". O_o

i think the enchament is purely random.
The think of interest, i have noticed is that the position the star lands on is always relative to the position u place your stone on. So every theory about placing the stones at the right position cant be true.
The weakness i ever heard of was about an exploit in the closed beta, that made it possible to prevent the item from breaking/downgrading while enchanting. But i didn't played in the closed beta, and the exploit was apparently fixed in open beta , or never existed all together.

There is no pattern.
No square is luckier than another.
Getting to +1 is so easy... It must have a 90% success rate.
@MaxOff: Yes, in CB there was an enhancing glitch, and that was oneofthe main reasons that they did a wipe. At least, that's what a few GMs and high-community members said.

I usually put it in same square, only broke one weapon doing it, and enchanced like 5.
1 to +5 the rest to +3
^^ I think its just random, hit or miss

Mmm let's see... my gut feeling is that one could figure out a pattern for the lower lvls (maybe just +1 or something if you're consistent). The earlier post about computer-generated randomness is correct. It's technically not random, but it's "pseudo-random" because an algorithm generates this randomness; however, it's probably really easy to jumble it up completely.
For example, they could have the randomness based on the current time, or how many items your character currently has in his/her inventory - anything and any combination. So it probably becomes so difficult to find a pattern that it can be deemed impossible.
Having said that though, I'll probably play around with low lvl enhancement after reading these posts when I get time to do it ^^.

...I've said it like 3 times now.
You know, we aren't just saying there's no pattern. It's in the game's files. Random numbers generated.

I read all the times you said random ^^. And as a person who's had some (not extensive) coding experience, I'm telling you that there is no "true" random. The random numbers generated are seeded based on some factors which are unknown to me.

While you're correct in that given the current coding languages there is no way of writing/using a true random number algorithm, Fiesta (and any other videogames) is probably using a library PNRG, which generates enough randomness (patterns will emerge after loops in the tens of thousands).
