Whenever you log in, a temporary file called a cookie is saved on your computer, so that whenever you contact the FF server for data, it will first check if you have that cookie and if you do, then the server treats you like a logged user. If you don't, it treats you like a guest and sends you all those annoying ad banners as well. If you were logged in, upon closing your browser the cookie self-destructs. (Or if you checked the "Remember me?" checkmark, then it stays on your computer even after you close the browser)
The way cookies work is that they can belong to a single domain, providing you access restricted to that particular domain, or a list of them, providing access to many domains at once. The cookies on FF belong only to a single domain, ie. it belongs to only one of the two above. Hence, if you are logged in on the first domain (like me), you won't register as a logged user if you try to access this site from the second domain (like in the link Righty provided). Hence my fix in the second post. Hope I explained it clearly.
