Warrantless wiretaps? That was the Bush Administration.

Destruction of the 2nd Amendment? Hardly. Congress recently passed a law that allows the use of firearms in National Parks.

Domination of the world through military force? Again. Bush Administration.

Why's that? i just dont trust the government. at all.

Politicians have never done anything but fix the mistakes of other politicians.

The people have no control. Anyone who believes their voice really matters in this system is quite gullible. Direct Democracy > Representative Democracy.

See the above cartoon. We humans are machines that love to find patterns in things even when there aren't any. I have a strong suspicion that this is the origin of both religion and conspiracy theories and why they are so popular. It's a feature that's turning into a bug.

Also, about the democracy thing...I hope you're joking. Direct democracy would be madness on any sort of medium-to-large scale. We'd be voting every week. Amongst other problems, such as the "tyranny of the majority".

Athen's so-called democracy was also only available for the white and male.

But it could be updated to fit today's society.

And hrae, you forget that in a perfect Democratic Anarcho-Socialist society, there would be no need for currency.

Besides, the country would be divided into city states which would run themselves and not need the union.

You know that in any sort of anarchy, the weak (such as yourself) would be the first against the wall, right? You could form your peace circles and sit ins and the aggresive Type-A people would just run you over with a tank...

And before anyone complains about my calling him weak, read some of his earlier threads. He's as much said it himself, I'm not picking on him.

A direct democracy promotes mob rule, as does an anarchist society. Incidentally, mob rule actually moves away from a democracy than anything else. I doubt mob rule is any way to rule an "ideal" society.
