Well... I feel stupid

I was doing the Gold Hill Adventure Kingdom Quest. We were at the final part, but just had to find the key. Well, I found it, but I didn't realize that you had to click on it to have it in your inventory...
Well, the group goes to the door where the boss is, and we're all just standing there, waiting for someone to open the door. I was desperately trying to open it, but, since I didn't have the key, it wouldn't open. We ended up having to go back to where the key was left. I felt bad...
And it didn't help that someone kept calling whoever left the key (me) a noob. T_T
